Fall 2015 {+ Science Center Ticket Giveaway}

Now that we got our first six inches of snow this November, I guess we can say the fall season is over :( It always passes by far to quickly but we made the most of it!! We did the traditional orchard and pumpkin patch visits, made our favorite seasonal foods and hit up fun spots around town and beyond.

In early fall we traveled to Illinois for a sports car driving experience I bought for Tim for his birthday. Kaydin and I jumped in the pace car for a chance to go around the track, too.

Kaydin dressed up this year for the Homecoming dress-up days. First up Movie Star Day.

Next up was Patriot Day.

And another day, Occupation Day. She dressed up as a zookeeper.

She experimented with different smoothie flavors one night.

Wipe out on the new roller blades.

Hibachi with friends!

Annual trip to the apple orchard. This time we visited the new you-pick Iowa Orchard outside of Granger.

Kaydin and I hit up a Waukee volleyball game. Brought back lots of memories!

Made a batch of apple butter with our harvest.

And a pie, too!

In early October Kaydin and I headed home to watch the concrete be poured for Dad's new shop.

We took a walk through Ledges State Park near Boone.

Taking a break from decorating for Traci's wedding.

Annual tradition! Visit to Wills Orchard and Pumpkin Patch.

We took a trip to Vegas for my friend Kristyn's 30th birthday. Our first time there and my first time playing the slots! I came home up $2.50. I only pushed the button a handful of times but I still came out ahead!

Kaydin made a homemade pumpkin spice frappuccino.

Papa visited for Kaydin's music concert.

Pretty fall views on my way to work.

Chilly fall nights call for hot chocolate with lots of marshmallows.

Another fun Halloween. Can you guess who she is?

A perfect fall snack/appetizer/dessert to throw together for a get together. A block of cream cheese, caramel sauce, and toffee bits with lots of apple slices for dipping!

We met my friend Kati's little baby and Kaydin did not want him to go back home.

A fun weekend with high school friends April, Kati, and Jess. 12 years apart but felt like none.

And that brings us up to now, the first snow last Friday. Kaydin's always excited and giddy. Me, on the other hand, am not so smiley about all the white stuff.

Although, the cold temps and falling snow made for the perfect scene for a sleepover with girlfriends complete with holiday crafting.

And now that we've moved past that warm, sunny fall it's time to find activities to do other than spend time outside. And I can help with that! Locals- I've got two tickets to giveaway to the Science Center of Iowa!

The Science Center is a perfect place to head as a family to see one of their exciting new exhibits. RACE: Are we so different? is one I'm really looking forward to seeing.

RACE: Are We So Different?

Experience this highly personal and thought-provoking exhibition at the Science Center of Iowa October 10, 2015, through April 3, 2016.
People look different. Like a fingerprint, each person is unique. Each person represents a one-of-a-kind combination of their parents', grandparents' and family's ancestry - and every person experiences life somewhat differently than others. But are we so different?
This provocative exhibition investigates race and human variation using three primary themes: the history of the idea of race, the science of human variation and the contemporary experience of race and racism in the United States.
The exhibit includes:
  • Interactive exhibit components
  • Historical artifacts
  • Iconic objects
  • Compelling photographs
  • Multimedia presentations
Another fun feature of the Science Center is $5 Family Night. Every second Friday of the month, they hold have $5 Family Night, featuring $5 general admission, $5 IMAX documentary films and $5 specials in the Food Chain CafĂ©. A fun, educational and affordable family night out!

And there's so many fun activities going on all through winter and the holiday season!
