Happy Friday! {+Quick Check-in}

Remember a few weeks ago when I said you'd be seeing me a lot more?? Well, yeah, that hasn't happened yet. But it hope it does soon!

Now that we're through my brother's wedding, I hope to get settled back into my routine and start having room in my brain for other things. That will have to wait until Sunday, though, because I'm headed back up north for another family wedding. This time for my cousin Tyler.

I can't wait to share pics from Josh's wedding, though. It was so fun! I find myself replaying pieces of the whole weekend everyday. It was such a fun, special time for my little family.

Since my life is a little scattered, this post will be too!

I have sooo many updates to get out! Our Colorado vacation this summer, the Color Run, wedding, a weekend with my Blends, what we were up to in August, a few recipes, some health tips, plus soooo many other ideas I have jumping around in my head!

Josh and Kerstin had popcorn at their snack table at the reception last weekend. Kerstin's family went a little crazy and popped THREE garbage bags full of popcorn! I brought some of the extra home and made a fall favorite, marshmallow popcorn balls! So good!

I have a whole list of more recipes I want to make (and hopefully share)! Just need to make that plan and get in the kitchen.

It's my favorite time of year! Crisp weather, comfort foods, cozying up on the couch in the evening in my jammies, and college football Saturdays! Tim and I have yet to even watch a game together because our schedules have been so packed and opposite! But he did get our flag hung! Go Clones!

And one more random thought just to round out this post, I want to share my favorite notepad for making lists and scratching ideas.

It's Kaydin Baby! They made this at school last year for Mother's Day and I absolutely love it!!

Annnd, it's even multi-colored!

That's all for me today! Peace out!

What do you have going on this weekend?

Quick Weekend Recap {+ Weekly Meal Plan}

This weekend was a great one!

Lots of time spent with people I love, doing activities I love, in the weather I love most-- the beginning of fall!

Friday night Kaydin and I spent the evening on campus where I work for their annual Run DMU 5k event.

When we got home from the race, we found a hummingbird flying around going crazy. Kaydin thought if she stuck her finger out and held really still, he might land on her finger. Turns out hummingbirds don't like to land on little girls' fingers, even if they try hard to hold still for a few seconds!

I was so excited to wake so crisp, cool air on Saturday morning! Perfect for the downtown farmers market. I was even more excited about the company was planning on spending the day with!

One of my dearest friends, Launa, was in town from Florida. It's always a good time when we all get together!

Whatcha got on your face there, Kaydin? Oh, just some powdered sugar from the best cream cheese danishes you can find. (From the La Mie booth you are you curious)  ;)

This stand had the most beautiful dahlias of all sizes and colors. The stand owner said they came straight from his backyard in Ames. Can you imagine having this as your backyard view?! #jealous

After the market we hit up our favorite lunch spot from college, La Hacienda, and sat and chatted for a few hours. Being apart for two weeks or two years, it's always like we were never apart at all. Love spending time with these three ladies! #corefour

And we can't all get together and not get a shot of all our tattoos together! It's tradition.

The rest of Saturday was spent running errands, cleaning and organizing at home and relaxing on the couch. Sunday was much of the same, minus the couch. I cleaned and organized Kaydin's room and it's almost how we want it!

Sunday evening I spent some time in the perfect weather to get some work done in the garden. Between all the rain and some soil being washed away and the naughty bunnies, my beets didn't fair too well this year. At least the nutritious tops are edible! :)

I've already been thinking ahead and making plans next year's expanded garden. Can't wait!

After a quick and easy crockpot dinner of pork roast and veggies and getting showered, we settled in on the couch to watch a movie, The Amazing Spider Man 2. Now I'm obviously not savvy with the comic book storylines, but really how can they keep remaking the same movie showing slightly different story lines and still make millions?!? Baffles me!

And that was our weekend! Can I get a do-over, please? :)

Weekly Meal Plan
Crockpot pork roast with carrots, potatoes, and onions
Buffalo Chicken Wraps and Roasted Portabello Caps

Happy Anniversary!
And I can't post on this day without a shoutout to my parents! It's their anniversary today! 30 years and still going strong! Love you guys!

Five Things Friday 9.5.14

Oh, man, it was a busy, fun summer!

And now it's over?!?! Well, that was quick!

Our busy summer led to a more relaxed and slow presence from me on the blog. Now that we're turning the corner into fall, I hope you'll be seeing me much more :)  I still have lots to catch you up on from our summer, though. Well... minus our Labor Day weekend. I planned on throwing a photo dump your way earlier this week, but my phone bit the dust on Monday.

Since it's been a little while since I've rambled, let's see if I can come up with five things to update you on.

1. Warby Parker
Thanks so much for all the kind feedback I've gotten from my last post. If you haven't checked it out yet and are in the market for some new eyeglasses, definitely check it out! Warby Parker offers affordable, fun options!

2. Run DMU
Tonight Kaydin and I are participating in a work event, Run DMU, a 5k fundraiser for the university. I ran ( /walked) last year and it was a lot of fun! Excited to have her as my running buddy this year!

3. Downtown Farmers Market
Tomorrow I'm making a wayyyy overdue trip to the farmer's market. I haven't been for what seems like forever and I'm so excited! Plus, i'm going with a few girlfriends. Even better! We haven't all gotten together for a long time so should be a great day!! On m y list of market goodies for this week are kale, local honey, and bubble tea.

4. Garden Harvest
I've been getting lots out of the garden and Josh shared some of his bounty with me last weekend when I was home. I made some awesome gazpacho this week and homemade sauerkraut and pickles are in my near future, too. No picture to show to prove my green thumb, though, since it was one of the many casualties that was housed on my now broken phone.  :(

5. The all-time best season of all!
Fall is officially right around the corner but of course already unofficially here! Tall boots, leg warmers, pumkin everything, crockpots soups, and appple picking! Eeeeeehh, I'm so excited!!

What do you always grab from your local farmers market?

Warby Parker Eyeglasses {Fall Collection 2014}

Have you heard of Warby Parker?

I hadn't until last year and I really can't even remember how I stumbled on the company. It's an eyeglass and sunglass company that offers affordable options. I had always been thinking that I need to check out their website, then recently, I saw an Instagram post highlighting a pair of their glasses. Right then I jumped online and did some browsing.

After finding many pairs that I loved, I chose the trial option, checked out through the online process and just like that five pairs of frames were on their way to my house for me to try on and fall in love with-- for free!

Another reason I was sold on the company was their give back policy. For every pair of glasses purchased, a portion is donated to a non-profit and training efforts to bring eyewear to other parts of the world that can't afford it otherwise.

Ironically, as my trial frames were on their way to my house I was contacted by Warby Parker to see if I would in interested in helping to promote their new fall collection of frames. But a coincidence but since I'd had such a great experience so far, I was happy to help spread the word!

Fall Collection 2014

I'm loving the new colors they are offering! Here are a few of my favorites from the new Fall Collection 2014
Baxter- Sugar Maple

Crane-Striped Olive

Greenleaf-Whiskey Tortoise

Hardy- Striped Pacific

Oliver-Whiskey Tortoise

Mollie's Picks

Crane- Whiskey Tortoise
Really liked these ones. I tried the same ones in Black, too. They were just a little loose on my ears.

Wikie- Greystone
I thought these would be my favorites when I was shopping online. I did like them but not the best.

Fitz- Whiskey Tortoise
And these are my favorite ones so far!

Help me decide. Which are your favorites?
