Hello and welcome to Monday! :)
Or should I say... :(
We had a great weekend and I was sad to see it end. The weather great, we got a lot accomplished, and had lots of fun in between!
Friday we whipped up a dinner of salmon, tilapia, roasted potatoes, broccoli, and green beans.
Kaydin and I checked out the garden and played some softball in the yard while Tim mowed. Not all my little transplants made it but I'm happy lots of the seeds I've planted are sprouting through!
Saturday morning we had our softball game and then ran to the grocery store before heading to our next activity for the day.
That's what a sugar-free shopping cart looks like! :) Some things have been hard to find or abstain from but for the most part it hasn't been too bad!
After we stopped by home and had a quick lunch we headed back out the door for the Des Moines Performing Arts Center for Cirque: Mechanics, an arcobatic show.
Tim had a grillout with a bunch of guys Saturday so that left Kaydin and I on our own for a girls night. We cleaned and went through her room in the afternoon. Not a fun job but definitely needed.
A take-our order of sushi, fruit for dessert, and many reruns of Sister, Sister made for the prefect night.
When grocery shopping Saturday I came across a great deal of avocados for 19 cents!!! Most were at the ripe stage but that didn't stop me from buying 8 of them!
It was much too nice to stay inside all day so after taking some donations to the local homeless shelter we took a stroll around a pond where we found baby turtles, frogs, and countless huge, empty snail shells. Since Kaydin is a collector just like I was, many of them had to come home with us!
A little antique browsing and then we made our way home to keep working on dinner prep, eat, and complete the dreaded weekly task of detangling Kaydin's curls. :( So glad we have an appointment on the calendar to braid up her hair again! So much easier to deal with and I get a break for a couple weeks!

Crockpot salsa verde chicken with sauteed beet greens, roasted beets and radishes
Turkey and spinach meatloaf with smashed yukon potatoes
Beans and rice with salsa and avocado
Fried eggs, toast with smashed avocado
